Bumblebee Jasper is actually not a true jasper at all as it does not contain quartz. Rather, it is a form of fibrous calcite. It comes from only one location in the world, Mount Papandayan in West Java in Indonesia. Bumblebee Jasper contains realgar, which is an arsenic-containing mineral that gives it the distinctive yellow-orange color. However, as a component of bumblebee jasper, Mindat does not note any dangers from handling or wearing this crystal.
