Nah, I'm not that fancy. So, here it is. I have loved rocks and crystals since I was very young, but age and adulthood changed that curiosity. As a young adult, I traveled a lot all over the country, to Mexico and Ireland! I fell in love with the mountains and nature! I'm not too fond of Texas's heat, so I never realized how much love I have to nature until I traveled. Hiking and the mountains are where it's at for me! Unfortunately, my family lives around the Houston area, so here I stay. I figure it keeps the mountains still incredibly special to me.
Health is also vital to me. What we put in our body and what or who we surround ourselves with matters! As a counselor, learner, educator, and lover of all things health and happiness, it's important to me to aid others in their journey, no matter where that is - to be the best version of YOU that you can be. If you love positive, uplifting vibes, learning, psychology, self-help, crystals, silly memes, honesty, bright colors, or cat videos... you're in the right place. If you want to learn how to enjoy life more, listen to your intuition, alter your perception, and choose what is right for you, I will always follow-through, and if I don't know, I can point you in the right direction.
So, why crystals, minerals, and rocks now?! Fast forward to a day at the local traders (flea) market, and I fell in love with crystals and rocks all over again. This shop opened because of this love (albeit obsession) and wanting to provide quality crystals at decent costs. Trips with clients were always amazing. It allowed me to teach them how to listen to their gut, identify what is best for them, and go home with wonderful crystals and super happy vibes. The problem is that many struggle to pay for therapy or coaching (psst, I have great prices). So, why add to it with overpriced crystals or a long drive to the local store?
Plus, with COVID-19, everything changed. I left my contract counseling job due to budget cuts and working more for 1/3rd the pay. My private practice was slow and I was hoping to do more spiritual work myself. So, I decided to take things into my own hands and with a leap of faith, Mother Nature's Medicine was born. As a busy PhD student of Mind-Body Medicine with Integrative Mental Health and coming up on dissertation, my time is valuable. Little did I know this shop would be far more work for even less pay (starting out) but it has been worth it for all that I have gained. To build a like-minded community that brings people together has always been my goal. This is only the beginning. I had started a weekly blog but it is far too much for me to keep up with currently so again, check out the captions on each post on Instagram for more insight.
Additionally, my online store is synonymous honesty. I assure you every crystal in the shop is REAL unless otherwise stated that it is man-made. Pssst...man-made crystals also carry energy. Every single thing in this universe has energy. Glass can also be manipulated and dyed which can draw you based on the chakras you may need to attend to. Color therapy is related to Ayurvedic Medicine, the chakras, and should be taken seriously. What you get from it is what matters. If it feels right or wrong, listen to your instincts and not what others tell you to. I don't know about you but I would rather listen to stacks of scientific research supporting the effects color and energy has on us than someone else's personal beliefs. Now, if you still would rather veer from man-made crystals or even if you trust someone else's choices, that is up to you but I greatly encourage you to listen to your gut. I wouldn't want you missing out on something truly calling to you. Again, no judgment here. Just know that there is no right or wrong way.
Anyway, I carry both high and lower quality items because I love them! The thing is, with crystals, the choice is yours. If you're drawn to it, then it's for you. If you aren't, then move along.
